It’s nearly the end of the year and we are getting ready for graduation. We’re still working hard but everyone is finding the concept hard to grasp. We are working on songs for graduation and decoratioms to have on graduation night. Thank god we have a graduation comitee to organise everything otherwise it would be a chaos. I’m looking forward to the end of the year and I am really excited about High school it’s not that far now.
We have finally finished the reading challenge and recieved our medals. I got Legend and was really happy about it. We had a huge assembly where a representative came from the government and watched our assembly. He handed the medals over to the teachers and said a few words. I’m glad that the reading challenge is finished because I like choosing my books more freely.
Our nearly historic canteen has been named and now renovated. It is now called the top Shop because it is also going to be the uniform shaop aswell. I think it’s a great idea for it to be the uniform shop aswell because it saves space and more convenient.
The government has given the school a grant for renovations and knew equipment. Our school has demolished the library and Activity hall and are rebuilding the library and putting a group of classes and rooms to fill the blank space. I’m upset that there doing it now because I’m leaving this year but I’m happy for the younger ones. They’re going to have great new facilities.
We have been given a new Inquiry question for the last few weeks of this year. Our new question is How has music changed the world. This has and will be one of my favourite Inquiry tasks because music is a big thing in my life and I love it heaps to be doing this subject in school is really cool. In class we were playing the best Australian songs of all time, I would have to agree with the number one song which is Land down under, it’s a great Aussie song that I reckon’ is unbeatable. I would disagree with an ACDC song ‘It’s a long way to the top’ it was higher then 5, I think that should of been in the top 5 but that’s my opinion and obviously Australia thought differently.
This term in German our teachers are writing reports in our last lesson we had to write about ourselves. We wrote about when we were born, where we live, favourite foods, music etc.. We were given 45 minutes. I found it difficult to put it all together but it was easy at the same time because we knew what we had to write and the words, putting it in to context is the hard part. I didn’t get to finish but I hope where I got to was alright.
The keys to success are Organisation, Resilience, Persistence, Getting along and Confidence. I have showed that I use these keys to success this year by getting homework done this envolves Organisation and Persistence. Organisation because if you don’t write in your diary your going to forget to bring work home and persistence because when you can’t do something you keep trying and don’t give up. I have used Resilience and Getting Along at Recess and Lunch, when someone says something mean or is being annoying I may be upset at the time but I bounce back fast and don’t let it bother me. I use Getting Along with my friends and other guys by saying hi, not making a big deal of things and staying out of fights. Last but not least this year I have used confidence by doing a speech infront of Upper Primary and speaking infront of the class and at assembly’s. The key I would work on the most is Confidence because at the moment I wuld rather sit back and watch other people put their hand up for assembly speaches and speaking infront of the class. My aim is to be confident when speaking infront of people.
The year is nearly over and we have done a very good variety of art work. The piece that stood out as my favourite this year would have to be the one we are currently doing. This piece of art work ties into our inquiry unit which is about music. Our task is to draw an instrument and in the background draw a stave. This is my favourite art task because it’s fun and I love music, this is a task that I want to perfect and knowing me thats a good sign.
This terms 1st Inquiry unit is What are the Consequences? it’s about advertising and how it targets adolescents. During this Inquiry unit I have noticed some very smart stratergies to suck people in to buying thier product such as humor, bright colours and catchy tunes and slogans, but the thing that caught my eye the most was misleading advertising, how they can lie to you and get away with it. Some people believe thier lies and just end up disapointed. Doing this Inquiry unit has been really eye opening and I’m beginning to notice advertising more.
In literacy we have been learning how to write a news report. It was hard for me to get used to writing in third person when you were in the situation to. I wrote mine on LA21 RECIEVE READING ASSIGNMENT, I think I did pretty well with the structure and I was most proud of my lead paragraph. Writing in this form has made me appreciate the newspaper much more.
